Originally named Southern Indiana Scale Company, Premier Scales and Systems began in 1969 when Wayne S. Hargett, Sr. started servicing scales for area companies from his
Evansville, IN home. He soon after began selling small scales to compliment his growing service business and became incorporated in 1971.
Realizing the need to further expand, Mr. Hargett soon developed a partnership with his brother Dennis Hargett and the two embarked on a mission that would eventually lead to the development of a first class company. Their first step was the acquisition of a small office and work facility on Evansville's south end of town in 1972 and quickly followed the relocation with the addition of the Mettler Toledo Scale product line. The company remained at this location throughout the 1970s until its growth necessitated the purchase of land for the construction of a new facility on Evansville's north side in the early 1980s.
SISCO made its next major expansion by adding Louisville Scale Company in 1984. The Louisville location more than doubled the company's sales and service area further strengthening the company's quickly growing market share.
After further expansion into Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana, a new name was needed to represent the company's scope. Thus in 1992, all locations began doing business as Premier Scales & Systems.
In 1996 Premier established ISO registration which paved the way for Guide 25 (Predecessor to 17025) accreditation two years later. This accreditation made Premier Scales & Systems one of the first ISO accredited labs in the area.
In 2006 Premier relocated to its current headquarters on the North West side of Evansville fully equipped with a state-of-the-art Metrology Lab. By the next year, Premier was fully accredited to perform mass calibrations.
Last year, Premier more than doubled its ANAB accredited scope. This addition was the largest expansion since Premier’s 1984 purchase of the Louisville office.
This year, we celebrate 50 years industry-leading service, sales, and repair. We are truly thankful for every customer, employee, and partner who made this journey possible.
