Position Summary:
The Welder III position is a senior-level, professional welding role responsible for welding all pressure and non-pressure fittings produced at Morrill Industries. This role requires advanced welding expertise, strong fabrication skills, and the ability to perform high-precision TIG welding, including welding in all positions up to and including 6G, in compliance with or exceeding ASME B31 code standards.
The goal of this position is to obtain and apply the highest level of knowledge regarding Morrill Industries’ products, materials, and welding processes. This is an open and collaborative role, where improvements to welding techniques, equipment operation, and fabrication processes may be openly discussed in a professional forum with the Shop Manager and other authorized personnel.
Welder III serves as a technical mentor and liaison to Welder I and Welder II employees, helping elevate overall team performance while consistently demonstrating expert-level craftsmanship, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
•Successful completion of Welder II or equivalent advanced welding experience.
•Certified TIG Welder or demonstrated ability to meet TIG certification requirements.
•Proven experience working under ASME B31 code standards.
•Proficient in 6G welding with strong consistency and precision.
•Ability to pass a weld test during the interview or qualification process.
•Advanced understanding of welding techniques across multiple materials.
•Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and time-management abilities.
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
•Welding certifications in multiple welding formats.
•Experience operating automatic welding systems.
•Experience mentoring or training other welders.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to lift 30–50 lbs.
•Ability to stand, bend, and weld in various positions for extended periods.
•Indoor fabrication shop environment with moderate noise levels.
•Exposure to welding fumes, metal dust, and high-heat tools.
•Use of welding machines, grinders, and metalworking tools.
