Today marks the last day of an amazing 52-year career for Dean Tanner at Viox & Viox.

Dean joined Viox & Viox in 1974 right out of high school and has been a dedicated part of our team ever since. Over the past five decades, he has helped shape countless projects across Northern Kentucky while witnessing the civil engineering industry evolve from hand drafting and calculations to today’s computer-based design.

Known around the office as “Dean-o,” Dean will be remembered for his patience, loyalty, humor, and the many friendships he built over the years. From coffee and donuts in the office to NCAA hat drawings, Christmas parties, and playing the guitar at Vioxpalooza, Dean has been part of so many memories that helped shape the culture of Viox & Viox.

One of Dean’s proudest accomplishments was the Ryle High School Site Plan, the last major site plan he completed entirely by hand. When asked to describe his 52 years at Viox & Viox in one word, Dean chose “Service.” We could not think of a better word to describe the impact he has had on our company, our team, and our clients.

Dean, thank you for your dedication, loyalty, and contributions over the last 52 years. Congratulations on your retirement and this well-deserved next chapter! 🎉

Vioxpalooza 2026 ☀️

Another great Vioxpalooza is in the books! Our annual summer gathering brought the team together for an afternoon of co****le, good food, music, and plenty of laughs. It was a great opportunity to step away from our desks, enjoy some friendly competition, and spend time with coworkers.

Congratulations to our 2026 Co****le Tournament Champions, Justin and Jeremey, for taking home the title! 🏆 We also had the opportunity to celebrate Dean Tanner's retirement and recognize his incredible 52-year career with Viox & Viox.

We are grateful to have a team that works hard and knows how to have a little fun along the way.

Exciting to see the Midline affordable housing development in Clifton Heights moving closer to construction!

Viox & Viox is proud to have provided land surveying, civil engineering design, landscape architecture, and permitting coordination services for this project and will continue supporting the development through construction administration.

This site presented several unique challenges, including nearly 42 feet of elevation change from one corner of the property to the other. To accommodate the development, our team designed a series of retaining walls throughout the site, including a wall reaching approximately 15 feet in height along the rear property line.

Stormwater management was another key component of the project. An underground detention system was incorporated into the design to meet MSD requirements while maximizing the usable space available for development.

Through careful grading design, creative stormwater solutions, and close coordination with the project team and City departments, we helped transform a challenging site into a functional and efficient residential community.

We appreciate the opportunity to be part of this project and look forward to seeing Midline take shape in the coming months.

Welcome Back, Charlie! 👋

We're excited to welcome Charlie Eiting back to Viox & Viox for his summer Civil Engineering Co-op!

Charlie joined us over winter break and has now returned for his full co-op experience. As a Civil Engineering student at the University of Dayton, he’ll continue gaining hands-on experience and learning from projects across our team.

Improving pedestrian safety and accessibility in the City of Florence 👷‍♂️🚶‍♀️

Viox & Viox was proud to provide civil engineering and land surveying services for the new sidewalk improvements along New Buffington Drive in partnership with the City of Florence and Boone County Fiscal Court.

This project creates a more reliable pedestrian connection between the nearby TANK bus stop and local businesses within one of Florence’s established industrial areas. The work required careful coordination of drainage features, easements, and existing site conditions, resulting in infrastructure improvements that will better serve employees and visitors traveling through the corridor each day.

We are grateful to have partnered on another infrastructure improvement project that supports connectivity, safety, and long-term community growth throughout Northern Kentucky.

What does a day in civil engineering actually look like?👷‍♀️📐

Join us at our second annual Civil Bites & Insights event, a hands-on experience designed to give high school and early college students a real-world look at civil design. Through interactive activities, site planning exercises, land surveying demonstrations, and site visits, students see how classroom concepts turn into real projects.

Throughout the day, participants connect with professionals over lunch, explore surveying equipment and drone technology, and gain a better understanding of what working in this field is really like.

Please join us in welcoming our new summer co-ops, Chloe Harves and Jake Dezzutti, to Viox & Viox!

Chloe is an incoming junior at the University of Dayton studying Civil Engineering with previous co-op experience in construction. She is involved in several campus organizations and is passionate about projects that positively impact the communities around her.

Jake recently completed his second year at Cincinnati State and is beginning his first surveying co-op. He is especially interested in boundary surveys and is excited to gain hands-on experience in the field.

We are excited to have both Chloe and Jake on the team this summer and look forward to seeing all they accomplish at Viox & Viox!

Supporting growth in Boone County through thoughtful school site design 🏫📐

Viox & Viox provided complete site design, surveying, and public improvement services for the construction of Steeplechase Elementary School.

The 19-acre campus required new public infrastructure, including the extension of Grand National Boulevard and utility improvements to support the growing area. Our team was involved from early planning through construction, providing site layout, grading, stormwater drainage design, permitting, and construction support.

Viox & Viox was proud to attend the ribbon cutting yesterday for the New Buffington Road Sidewalk project, a joint effort between City of Florence, Kentucky - Government and Boone County Kentucky - Government.

Our team was honored to provide civil engineering services for this important infrastructure improvement, helping enhance pedestrian connectivity and accessibility for the community. We are grateful to have been part of a project that will benefit residents for years to come!
