Excited to partner with UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County for this pilot project…recycling pickleballs.
♻️ New pilot at Twin Lakes Park: Pickleball recycling!
In partnership with Sarasota County Parks and Solid Waste, we're collecting used pickleballs at the new courts and giving them a second life.
Even though pickleballs are made from recyclable plastic, they can't go in your curbside recycling cart because local facilities aren't equipped to process them. Instead, collected pickleballs are sent to the Recycled Plastic Factory , where they're blended with other recycled materials to create new products like park benches, bike racks and picnic tables.
This pilot is part of our Beyond the Bin initiative, which focuses on finding recycling solutions for materials that don't belong in your curbside cart.
