Why do some machine shops deliver faster than others? A big part of it comes down to what’s done in-house.

At Reata, bringing processes like testing and passivation in-house allows us to:

• Reduce outside vendor delays
• Improve coordination across operations
• Move faster on complex assembly and sub-assembly projects

Because fewer handoffs mean less waiting. When combined with smarter design decisions and proactive planning, that agility makes a real difference in lead times.

If timing is critical for your next project, it pays to understand what’s behind it.

From anodize and plating to material selection and supply chain strategy, every detail in your print impacts how fast your parts get delivered.

For example: Tight tolerances + Type III anodize = higher risk → more parts → longer lead times

The good news is that many of these factors can be optimized early. We broke down the biggest drivers of lead time (and how to avoid delays) in our latest article. Check it out: https://bit.ly/4wregVT

Plating plays a bigger role in part performance than many realize. From corrosion resistance to durability and even electrical properties, the right finishing process can significantly impact how your part performs in the real world.

In this blog, we walk through common plating options like anodizing, passivation, chromate conversion, and electroless nickel, along with key considerations that can affect your final results. Things like coating buildup, tolerance changes, and process variability all need to be accounted for early to avoid costly issues down the line.

If you want to make smarter decisions around plating and ensure your parts meet both functional and quality requirements, this is a must-read.

This week, we had the privilege of attending Paperless Parts’ annual user conference, POWER 2026.

From connecting with manufacturers across the industry to learning more about workflow efficiencies and upcoming product releases, the event was packed with valuable conversations and insights.

But we did more than just attend.

Adam Zaouage, our Automation & Data Specialist here at Reata, took the stage to share why technical hires are becoming increasingly valuable in modern manufacturing. Using real examples from his work at Reata, Adam highlighted initiatives like our new customer portal and website chatbot, both designed to improve transparency and communication for our customers.

We care deeply about showing up for our partners just as much as we do for our customers. Opportunities to share ideas and collaborate to move the manufacturing industry forward are a big part of why events like POWER matter to us.

A huge thank you to Paperless Parts for putting together another impactful conference. Already looking forward to next year.
