Memorial Day asks something simple of us: to remember. It’s a time to honor the lives of those who never came home and reflect on the freedoms their sacrifice secured.

For many, this day is deeply personal, a time to remember friends, teammates, and family members whose service came at the highest cost. Their legacy shapes the nation we enjoy today. The 2026 SAME STEM Engineering & Construction Camp is shaping the next generation of engineers through a week of hands-on learning, mentorship, and real-world problem solving. This June, as many as 40 high school students will work alongside industry professionals, military leaders, and the local A/E/C community while staying at Camp Paumalu on Oahu’s North Shore. Scout is proud to partner with these sponsors and volunteers to create an unforgettable experience for these teens as they build skills, connections, and future career pathways.

In addition to connecting with industry partners and leaders, Ryan, alongside Stephen Eagar and Emelia Brooks-Sisco, will highlight how solutions derived from veteran experience advance the mission in his session, “Mission-Focused Engineering Excellence: The SDVOSB Advantage”. And Ray will be moderating the session, “Microreactors for Defense Resilience and Remote U.S. Infrastructure” with John Smith and John Eschenberg, as they explore innovative approaches to energy security and infrastructure resilience.
