Jim Finch attended Diane Scalese's Flare Cut Fi****ms Engraving class, and check out this stunning design he engraved on an aftermarket G***k slide! The material was a bit tough to work with, but those cuts turned out so smooth! Well done, .engraving!

Simple shapes are often used by artists to break down an image into digestible parts. In this video, Jake Newell shows us how to use an oval to create a basic scroll outline. He divides the oval into quadrants to help with spacing of the inner curves, creating a nicely tapered scroll.

This week in the GRS Training Center, Kevin Biehn taught students to create elegant Bridal Settings. These in-demand techniques will be valuable additions to each student's skill set. They covered prong setting, partial bezel setting of fancy-shaped gemstones, and shank embellishment, exploring kasteel and filet pavé settings.

In Scroll Design & Engraving, students spent the week studying the ins and outs of scroll designs. Jake Newell led discussion and drawing sessions that helped students understand how to create their own aesthetically pleasing scrollwork and then engrave the designs they created.
