2,500+ Notices of Liability in just one week on I-290 in Amherst.
That means more than 2,500 times a driver chose to speed through an active work zone instead of slowing down to help protect the people working just inches away from traffic.
And some weren’t just speeding. They were flying through the recent work zone at reckless speeds, including drivers clocked at 101 mph, 91 mph, and 90 mph.
There is no excuse for driving that fast through a work zone. None.
Not being late. Not being in a hurry. Not “just keeping up with traffic.” A few seconds saved is never worth risking someone’s life.
Our crews should not have to wonder if the next speeding vehicle is the one that won’t move over, won’t slow down, or won’t stop in time. Slow down. Pay attention.
