Father and son—both named Patrick—stopped by the shop today to get their knives sharpened.
Among them was a Schrade fixed blade with some family history behind it. It originally belonged to Ruben, the elder Patrick’s father. Today, Patrick passed his father Ruben’s knife down to his own son, Patrick.
From Ruben, to Patrick, to Patrick—three generations and one well-used Schrade, now sharpened and ready to keep making memories.
Some knives are more than tools. They’re a piece of family history, passed from one set of hands to the next. We’re always honored when we get to put a fresh edge on a story like this.

15 years ago today, Bastrop experienced a devastating wildfire that impacted the entire community.

This picture is a throwback to a couple of knives that we had commissioned using reclaimed materials from that very fire. On the left is a knife made with burned Loblolly pine as well as chainsaw chain Damascus bolsters, made from chains used in fighting the fire. The knife on the right is made with a burned Loblolly pinecone in the handle and that same chainsaw chain Damascus for the bolsters.

Aaron reached out to us after seeing To The Point featured on Day Tripper, more specifically after he eyed the Cub Scout knife on our shelf in one of the shots. We shipped that out to him immediately and he sent us this picture and his ‘why’ for purchasing this knife.

‘Thank you for the awesome Cub Scout knife, it is exactly like the one my dad gave me in 1976. As one of our Scout leaders, my dad took us on a fishing trip, and I cleaned my first fish with it. Later I carved my soapbox derby car with it.
Grizz did a great job cleaning and sharpening it for me. It is rock solid and super sharp. I could clean a fish with this one too!’
