Wabasha Cty Hwy 2 between Cty Hwy 25 and MN Hwy 247 is planned to be closed to through traffic beginning Monday April 28th for concrete repairs. Cty Hwy 2 is expected to be closed approx 2 weeks depending on weather.

Wabasha Cty Hwy 25 between Olmsted Cty Hwy 21 and MN Hwy 42 is planned to be closed to through traffic after Wabasha Cty Hwy 2 is open to traffic. After construction begins, Wabasha Cty Hwy 25 is expected to be closed for approx 3 weeks depending on weather for concrete repairs.

Road users will need to use alternative routes during closures.

After reading about 9-year-old Memphis Franke helping Evers Dairy haul corn silage last fall with a Radio Flyer coaster wagon pulled by his motorized wheelchair, Tyler Roucka, of CLAAS wanted to do something.

A bit of brainstorming with the product team and several months of work later, Memphis was presented with a custom CLAAS wagon Jan. 20 at the CLAAS showroom in Omaha.

For Garret and Alicia Miller, juggling dual roles is an everyday reality that brings both sacrifice and reward.

At Garret’s full-time job, he spends mornings and afternoons in Wisconsin working as a milk inspector for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. At his second job, he spends weekends and weekday early mornings and evenings working on his family’s dairy farm near Kellogg, Minnesota.

“It’s always been my lifestyle,” Garret said. “I’m not the type to sit around and let grass grow under my feet. … The reward (is) in the end, seeing the crops grow, harvesting the crops, and … raising the calves.”

Tonight is the first night of open houses for the Elgin Minnesota Volunteer Fire Department Elgin Ambulance Service and the proposed Elgin Emergency Services Building. Please if you’re able to, attend one of them or find a time to meet with us to go through our current buildings and have a conversation on why we are looking to update our current facilities and put the two services under one roof. With a combined 240 plus annual calls for service from individuals willing to put their lives on hold at any moment every hour of the year, all we ask is to come with an open mind and see what these services are providing you. We have a great community with great volunteers and look to only make it better and a lot safer for all, including those that use our facilities from other organizations.

Residents and tax payers of Elgin. We need your help and support. We have a very dedicated group, we continually look for ways that we can help our community and be there for everyone often in their toughest times. We need your support in the voting booth this November. Our current facilities are outdated, cramped, and really don’t meet our safety needs. We would love to show you the need and discuss it face to face. There are two formal open houses on October 3rd and 5th. (See our events page for details)
But our doors are always open, it comes with the job we are never off duty for our community. So please stop by, say hello, allow us to highlight our needs and why we are asking for a large investment in emergency services and our communities future. Our training and meeting nights are the second and last Tuesday of every month stop by anytime after 6, or message us. Let’s discuss this need and how we can partner to ensure high quality emergency services are here to stay! 🚒 🚑

23 years have passed since September 11, 2001, but we’ll never forget the bravery and courage of those first responders and others who lost their lives that day and the sacrifice and service of so many more in the years that followed.

2024 we have been serving Elgin and our surrounding Communities for 60 years! We are so greatfull for being here and all the support throughout the years. 🚑🚨🤍

We had this sign out at national Night Out Aug 6th. It was a great turn out !
