Steel provides the strength. Wood provides the touch.
One of the most frequent questions we get is, "Can I mix metal posts with a wood handrail?" The answer is yes—but only if you have the right partners.
This project is a textbook example of how to execute the "Mixed Material" look correctly:
The Cap: Superior Artisan Wood pre-fitted the wood cap rails to ensure the geometry was perfect before installation.
The Core: We fabricated the steel posts and cable system to slide perfectly underneath, providing the structural backbone without hiding the wood's grain.
The Tension: The stainless steel cables disappear, letting the contrast between the posts and the oak rail shine.
If you try to force these materials together without coordination, you get gaps. When you work with pros, you get this.
