A 10,000 square foot warehouse in Piedmont. One set of empty racks. A horseshoe of Lifetime folding tables. That was Safe in 2006 when Jason Rector walked in for his first day.
He was hired to sweep floors.
From there, he moved to MSA air packs when Nick got sick. Then Globe turnout gear, which he'd end up doing in some form for the next 16 years. Ordering, sales, demos, and everything in between.
Last year, he helped build something new. Safe's ISP program (Independent Service Provider) got certified to NFPA 1851 standards, which means we can handle advanced cleaning, inspection, repair, and decontamination of firefighter turnout gear in-house.
Jason spent almost two years training and researching to get it there.
In his own words: "I looked like I didn't have a clue what was going on. Which I didn't. But I've learned."
Nineteen years later, Safe has grown from 8 employees to about 300. Jason is still learning something new every day.
