LifeFlow

LifeFlow LifeFlow® is a hand-operated rapid infuser for critically ill patients who require urgent volume resuscitation.

Easy and intuitive to use, LifeFlow PLUS allows clinicians to deliver blood or fluid quickly and efficiently, improving patient care. LifeFlow was born out of the barriers that clinicians often face delivering fluids and blood quickly and simply to critically ill patients. Timely volume resuscitation is key to the effective treatment of shock, including septic shock and hemorrhagic shock, but is often not achieved due to the slow and inefficient traditional infusion techniques.

We had the privilege of presenting LifeFlow Challenge Coins to members of Atrium Health Navicent EMS who delivered extraordinary care in the field.

In one response, the crew cared for a patient involved in a rollover crash. The patient was found in critical condition with signs of severe polytrauma, poor perfusion, delayed capillary refill, and oxygen saturation of 78%. The team quickly initiated resuscitation with TXA, calcium, fentanyl, whole blood, and crystalloid fluids. The patient survived.

In another case, the team responded to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle who was exhibiting clear signs of hemorrhagic shock. Crews rapidly administered two units of whole blood using LifeFlow, stabilizing the patient’s condition and significantly improving vital signs before hospital arrival.

This is prehospital excellence in action. Thank you for your skill, speed, and dedication to saving lives.

Less than 24 hours after LifeFlow training, an ED team used LifeFlow for the first time on a critically injured patient with a GSW.

Using LifeFlow, the team delivered 2 units of blood in just 5 minutes — stabilizing the patient for transfer to definitive surgical care without additional blood products or vasopressor support.

"Being able to get blood in that quickly and see the patient stabilize before transfer was powerful for our team." - Trauma Program Coordinator
