Celebrating Black History and Honoring Innovation: How Elijah McCoy Transformed Manufacturing

At ARAUCO - North America, we recognize that innovation drives efficiency, quality, and progress in manufacturing. One of the most impactful advancements in industrial history comes from Elijah McCoy, whose automatic lubrication system revolutionized machinery operations.

Before McCoy’s invention, steam engines and manufacturing equipment had to be manually lubricated, causing frequent downtime. His self-lubricating device, patented in 1872, allowed machines to run continuously, improving productivity and reducing wear—principles that still influence modern manufacturing today.

McCoy’s legacy reminds us that smart solutions and forward-thinking engineering are key to operational excellence. At Arauco, we apply these same principles, ensuring our processes are efficient, sustainable, and innovative.
Let’s continue to push boundaries and honor the spirit of ingenuity that shapes our industry!
