Great to be part of the 63rd H.R. Bergmann Seminar hosted by the ASM International Milwaukee Chapter at Thunder Bay Grille.

This year’s focus on “Surface Treatments Achieved Through Heat Treatment Processes” brought together strong technical perspectives across nitriding, carburizing, boronizing, and induction.

Proud of Gasbarre’s Patrick Weymer, who served as Seminar Chair and presented on “Austempering and Marquenching: Advantages and Equipment Types,” helping lead a well-executed and insightful program.

At Gasbarre, we support austempering and marquenching with advanced batch and modular bell-style furnace systems designed for process control, consistency, and scalable production.

Gasbarre Selected to Design Custom Thermal Processing System for Specialized Government Manufacturing Facility

Gasbarre Thermal Processing Systems (Gasbarre) has received an order for a custom-engineered box furnace and loading system to be installed at a U.S.-based manufacturing facility, marking a new customer relationship and demonstrating Gasbarre’s ability to deliver solutions tailored to highly specific operational requirements.

The project required a furnace design that could meet strict space, access, and installation constraints while supporting a non-standard thermal application. Gasbarre worked closely with the customer to develop a solution that fit within the available footprint and complied with facility limitations that had previously restricted equipment options.

Gasbarre was selected based on its ability to respond quickly, collaborate closely throughout the approval process, and engineer a system specifically aligned with the customer’s needs — rather than adapting an off-the-shelf design. The project progressed under a tight timeline, with Gasbarre providing consistent engagement from initial inquiry through final authorization.

“Some applications don’t allow for compromise, whether due to space, schedule, or process requirements,” said Patrick Weymer, Business Development Manager for Gasbarre. “This project reflects our ability to engineer practical, reliable solutions when standard equipment simply won’t work.”

The system supports a specialized high-temperature thermal operation that was previously validated at a smaller scale and is now being expanded to meet increased capacity requirements. The direct fired furnace is designed to operate in an air atmosphere up to 2100°F and represents the largest configuration that can be accommodated within the facility’s constraints.
Gasbarre Thermal Processing Systems designs and manufactures engineered thermal processing equipment for demanding industrial applications, partnering closely with customers to solve unique challenges with precision and discretion.

Continuous mesh belt annealing is a production tool for brass forming lines where consistency and flow drive value.

In ammunition and brass component manufacturing, annealing supports repeat forming by restoring ductility after draw/form operations. The furnace has to deliver stable exposure through the heated zone while maintaining the surface expectations needed for downstream operations.

Gasbarre mesh belt furnace systems for brass annealing are applied where production depends on:
◾ controlled thermal processing in continuous flow
◾ atmosphere configurations aligned to surface requirements
◾ part presentation and conveying that supports repeat results
◾ cooling approaches matched to the forming sequence and line pace

Gasbarre supplies continuous mesh belt annealing furnace systems engineered for brass production environments where throughput, repeatability, and long-run uptime matter.

We’ll be exhibiting at MDSM 2026 in Tallahassee, March 3–5 (Booth 306)!

MDSM is one of the few events each year that brings together serious technical discussions around motor design, drive systems, magnetics, motion control, and rare earth materials — all in one place. For anyone working in motors, automation, robotics, automotive, aerospace, medical, or advanced manufacturing, it’s a strong concentration of engineering depth.

From our perspective, events like this matter because magnet performance and system efficiency are shaped long before final assembly — often starting at the material handling, alignment, and compaction stage.

At Gasbarre, our Powder Compaction Press Equipment and Magnet Alignment Press Systems are designed specifically for these early, high-impact steps in the value chain:
◾ Precise field-assisted alignment of NdFeB powders to maximize magnetic anisotropy
◾ Consistent, repeatable compaction to support downstream sintering and finishing
◾ Scalable press architectures that integrate automation, tooling, and process control
◾ Systems engineered with motor, traction, robotics, aerospace, and medical requirements in mind — where efficiency, torque density, and reliability matter

As electrification accelerates across industries, press technology isn’t just a forming step — it’s a performance-defining process.

Kalen Fitch, Mark Thomason, and Michael Martino, MEM will be attending and exhibiting. If you’re planning to be there and want to talk compaction, NdFeB processing, or press technology for magnetic applications, we’d welcome the conversation.
