Just wrapped up a critical repair on a 2-horse trailer that was long overdue for some serious TLC! The front axle hub's 5x4.5 10" drum brake assembly was cracked, and upon inspection, we discovered the bearing race was spinning freely - a potential disaster waiting to happen. Thankfully, our thorough inspection revealed a major crack, and we were able to replace both sides of the axle with new hub assemblies, including shackles, bolts, and bushings. While we were at it, we noticed the shackles were flipped, so we got everything back to specs, reconfiguring them to the correct 'W' configuration to ensure the equalizers work as designed. It's a great reminder to check your trailers regularly - if yours needs some attention, let's get it fixed right the first time!
