Do you do RUSH work? Yes. But, it is not cheap.
Monday afternoon we had a local customer come by in need of some work done within hours, if possible. The large bronze bushing (approximately 8" OD on the major diameter) need to be reduced by remove .010" from the minor OD.
We were in the midst of a production run to restock our large flex joint races. To achieve this we had to:
- Switch machine from using the spindle to the chuck.
- Machine a set of jaws to hold it for precision. This requires not only the jaws, but a program and machining the jaws.
- Set up and machine the part. This requires a program, tooling to be set, and running the program. (And don't make a mistake, because there is not another part.)
- Switch the machine back to the job we were running before.
All of this took about 5 hours. I won't divulge the final total the customer paid, but I will tell you there was a comma in it. Some may baulk at the cost, especially since it was all labor (other than the jaws.) For another is it cheaper than production stopping.
Machining doesn't happen by magic. Time, material and tooling are all part of the equation. The faster a job is needed, the more it will cost.

Looks like I hit an algorithm where a bunch of low grade window lickers want to chime in with negative comments. I am over it.
Comments removed and I will keep doing that. I used to reply and banter, but they are as worthless as t**s on a boar hog, so I shouldn't waste my time any longer.
As authentic as I want this page to be, I am over the cowards that find value in chiming in just to be negative. I am authentic, and I will authentically remove fu*****ds who comment. 😁
Any new fu*****ds that think they are relevant, how about growing a backbone and calling me? Takes a smidge of integrity and about the same amount of finger effort. I won't put my hand on my ass and wait for a ringy-dingy.
