Our co leader Julie is currently working on putting together the barrel! This part will process and allow the filament to melt by the time it reaches the nozzle.

This week we reviewed our inventory! 1st photo-> PID controller (the brain of our extruder). 2nd photo->pieces of the hopper (funnels filament into the extruder).

Did you know that recycling is a tedious and expensive eight step process? That is crazy in comparison to how much plastic we use produce and waste.
Reprint Bot aims to build an alternative faster solution to recycling a common plastic product: water bottles.
Our objective is to build a machine consisting of an extruder/nozzle/hopper to directly mold used plastic bottles into PET filament. As seen above, we hope to reduce the amount of steps in recycling by building a one step east machine!

We throw over 450 million metric tons of plastic into our oceans every year. This in turn, as you already know, has a great effect on wildlife. Animals ingest these plastics and are in danger of blocking their digestive tracts, get entangled in plastic wastes, and expose their health to synthetic compounds. More than 700 known marine species have been effected by plastic pollution, and over a million of animals die due to entanglement of ingestment of plastics every year..
