👷Safer conveyor transfer points start with the safest components👷

In-running nip points are one of the most serious hazards around belt conveyors. A new independent engineering report from Webster Engineering LLC takes a closer look at how to guard against them. The findings confirm that Flexco Segmented Transfer Plates can support compliant nip point guarding at conveyor transfer points when properly installed and maintained.

By helping cover the transfer gap and reduce debris accumulation beneath the belt, STPs can support both product flow and worker safety.

A precleaner does the heavy lifting at the head pulley, removing the bulk of carryback at the point of discharge. But bulk isn't everything. The residual material left behind can still cause mistracking, component wear, and cleanup headaches down the road.

At CEMEX UK's Dove Holes Quarry, a steel plate fell from equipment above and struck their main production conveyor belt. Without intervention, the belt would have ripped completely in half, leading to weeks of downtime and hundreds of thousands in lost production.
