My wife came up with this rule for our employees and kids where we have to wave to anyone that is on the ground or operating equipment to make sure everyone sees eachother. The effects on each of them will last for years. Prayers for all involved and anyone who has been in similar situation.

Some of you may have heard, many of you likely have not. I've waited to share until I had...well...better news than what I thought I was going to have.

On Tuesday (5/26) my dad was involved in a terrible farm accident. We were spot planting corn, meaning we were taking the planter through some spots in the fields where the corn was thin. At the same time, we were trying to use up leftover seed, which meant a lot of getting in and out of the tractor to shuffle seed from unit to unit. My dad was in the side by side, and I was in the tractor. Dad was following me in the side by side and when the planter ran out, he and I would get out of our respective cabs, go the the planter, and refill/shuffle seed. Then, he'd go back to the side by side parked behind the planter and I'd go back to the tractor and take off. We did this 3 or 4 times with no issues, it's a pretty routine thing we do each year.

Unfortunately, the 5th time did not go as planned. We shuffled seed around and he started back to the side by side and I started back to the tractor. Unbeknownst to me, he turned around on his way back to the side by side and for some reason ended up in front of the planter (I truly don't know why). Not knowing this, I took off. A bit later, I looked in there mirror and there he was...laying on the ground.

I have to type this out because I won't make it through a video. I thought I killed him. I truly don't know what happened. I called 911 immediately and held him until they got there. He was stabilized miraculously in Manchester and was life-flighted to University of Iowa hospital (there's a beautiful story in there for another post)

So that was Tuesday. Today is Friday. For the first time, we were able to speak to one another. His first words to me were "Thank you". He's undergone significant surgeries, has many broken bones but somehow by God's grace there is no major organ damage. Which if you saw what I saw in the field, it should be impossible.

We are far from out of the woods, but today was a huge step in getting his breathing tube out and breathing on his own - but he needs to do that for the next 18 hours for the Dr's to call it a success. The next big milestone is Monday. He has a surgery to repair some fractured vertebrate. Again, somehow there is no spinal cord damage, he can wiggle all his toes and fingers and can hold our hands.

We have seen so, so many prayers answered. Please join us in continuing to pray for my dad. His name is Richard.

I'm sure you understand we won't be posting for a while. Teeg will be helping me out by posting Sunday's YouTube video, which I am only posting because I'm hoping it will give my dad something to watch once he is recovered.

Thank you, Lord.

It’s better to look at the positive rather than the negative…… after being able to put up first cutting of alfalfa very quickly because of the poor yield and hot temps, it means that we can play in the dirt at the campground. I would like to see a better yield, but it is nice to slow down, so theres that. I think farming is in their blood…. We build different because we are different!

A video showing how to setup our 36x36 tree shade. You will need 1 1/8” socket or wrench, 15/16 socket or wrench, and (2) 3/4 sockets or wrenches and a ladder. Everything is done manually, but our strength will be hard to beat!! It takes us 1.5-2 hours for the initial setup. We only have a few left, so order today!

I have a seed tender sitting at the John Deere dealership in Pulaski, wi like the one pictured. I can either offer someone a good deal for freight for our products to the area or I’d be interested in hiring someone that is coming this way for stuff. We are roughly 575 miles away. It would fit nicely on a gooseneck or half a semi.

So do you think its easier to watch a crop fail from the start or to watch it fail later on in the season after seeing it do good to start with?

For anyone struggling with mental health during these difficult times, please remember that even in the darkest of storms, the following day is always the brightest, we just have to keep putting one foot infront of the other!

We understand your struggles because we experience the same ones! I personally am making more plans to go camping since the hay fields are browning up and the alfalfa isn’t regrowing…….. so that’s a positive…….. I just pray we all have enough feed for the winter.

Question: in a drought, is it better to never see a storm cloud or to see them just miss you?

Do you want to see the aftermath of a windbreak that identified itself as a kite….. did I word that correctly?! Ahh I don’t care. 😜. Of course you do. The best part about this is a new set of legs, a sheet of tin, and 2’ of iron and it will be back to being a windbreak. Just another example how we aren’t afraid to show the good or the bad, bluntness is the best way forward, even if it stings sometimes.

I’ll take some rain…..But let’s ease off the wind. Our windbreaks will be tough to beat as we have more reports of them standing to 100 mph winds than failures under 80, but we do have failures. As the winds where allegedly reaching the century mark from this weeks storms, we had a few reports of our windbreaks turning into kites and we want to remind everyone that if they have problems with our products to reach out as we do take great care of our customers. Let’s just say I don’t need mother natures help to pay for my vacation, so please reach out and share pictures and experiences and you’ll see first hand what it means to be ‘built by cattlemen, for cattlemen’.
