Every quarter we set aside some of the company profits for some form of office fun or betterment—aka Quarters for Quarters! In the past, people have organized company bowling parties, gotten plants for the office, installed new booths in our meeting space, and ordered food trucks for team lunches. This last quarter, Leanne got new board games, yard games, and fitness trackers for the company!
Buy-in is really important to growth—we thrive when our staff invests in company improvement and makes decisions that help us grow. That’s why we try to use a decision-maker model where
the person most affected by a problem or closest to a situation makes the decision. They should ask for advice, but they get to have the final say in how to proceed.
Q4Q is one way we encourage staff ownership and practice decision-maker. As a bonus, we also end up with some really cool stuff that makes work more fun!
