It is with great heartache we announce that our dear friend Eugene Rogers has went home to Jesus.
Eugene Rogers has worked for Dillon Electric Service through three owners over the course of more than 40 years. He has always been an honorable man. One that we all strive to be like and wish to have as our father and grandfather. He quickly became our very dear friend not just an employee. He made us laugh, he prayed with us, he worried with us and for us. Even at 77 years old he wanted to be at work because it "is home". He made it feel like home to everyone who entered the doors. There is not a sole who entered that didn't ask to chat with Eugene. Yes, he was knowledgeable in his trade but it was more than that. He was their friend. Someone they looked forward to talking to, who always smiled and made their day brighter.
There will forever be a missing piece in our hearts until we are reunited but we are comforted knowing that Mr. Eugene went to celebrate Jesus' birthday with Him this year and there is no greater place he would rather be.
Tomorrow, December 28th, Dillon Electric Service will be closed to honor the life of Mr. Eugene Rogers. We will reopen on Friday, December 29th at 8am. Please keep his family, friends and our staff in your prayers as we adjust to life without this precious soul.

🦃🔥 This Thanksgiving, let's keep the fire on the dessert table, not in the kitchen! 🔥🍽️

We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable holiday season, so we've put together some tips to help prevent kitchen fires during Thanksgiving. Share your own tips in the comments below! ⬇️🔥

1️⃣ Keep a close watch: Never leave the kitchen unattended while cooking. Whether it's the turkey in the oven or a pot on the stovetop, stay in the kitchen and keep an eye on things.

2️⃣ Test your smoke detectors: Ensure that your smoke detectors are working properly and have fresh batteries. They can be your first line of defense in case of a fire emergency.

3️⃣ Clear the area: Keep flammable objects, such as oven mitts, dish towels, or paper towels, away from the stovetop. Create a clear workspace to minimize the risk of accidental fires.

4️⃣ Be cautious with deep fryers: If deep-frying a turkey, do it outdoors and away from flammable surfaces. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and never overfill the fryer.

5️⃣ Use timers and reminders: Set timers to remind yourself of cooking times and check on food regularly. It's easy to get caught up in the holiday excitement, so these reminders can be a lifesaver!

Did you know that exhaust fans cause many home fires?

Exhaust fans are not only located in bathrooms, but you can also find them above the stovetop, laundry rooms, and attic spaces. These fans typically have a small 1 amp pull on the motor. However, when the motor stalls due to the build-up of lint and debris, the current can increase to about 10 amps, resulting in a fire. Over time, these exhaust fans become congested, creating more fuel for a fire.

A few ways to prevent this from happening are to:
⏲️ Install a timer (optimal run time is between 15-20 minutes)
🌬️ Maintain regular cleaning and inspection (every 6 months to one year)
👂🏽 Always keep an ear out for strange noises coming from the fan or the smell of smoke.
