Touchard Marine Supply & Net Co., Inc. is a family business that was established in 1977. My father, Roy Touchard, who had been a commercial shrimper his entire life opened what was then named Roy’s Net Shop. Our primary business at that time was building and repairing shrimp trawls for the shrimp industry along the Louisiana Gulf Coast. We have gone through many changes since that time and have m

uch more to offer our customers. As well as being a full service net shop for the shrimp industry, we also offer a full line of marine supplies to both the commercial and recreational boating industries. We maintain the largest inventory of marine accessories in the Acadiana area. We are capable of serving many types of boaters including light industrial, commercial fishermen and all sizes and types of recreational boaters. We custom build Sports Netting such as baseball batting cages, foul ball nets, back stops, protective screens and practice nets. We can manufacture custom boundary nets for golf and large ball sports as well. Some other examples of specialty netting are safety nets for warehouses, pallet racks and conveyors, bird netting, playground netting and much more.

Memorial Day weekend is coming up and a lot of people will be on the water for the first time this year. I'm sure there will be wildlife and fisheries agents out as well. So it would be a good idea to make sure that everything on your boat is in order in case you get stopped for an inspection. Here is a list of items required to be in compliance:
Boats (16' - less than 26')
Registration papers current
Valid decals displayed
PFD's (type I, II, III)( Life Jackets) one for each person on board.
Children 16 and under must wear while vessel is underway.
PFD's (type IV) Throw cushion

We are gradually increasing our inventory of fishing gear for both commercial and sport fishing. We carry Mustad brand hooks, and have added swivels, swivels with snap hooks and lead weights to our inventory. We also stock twine for trout lines and jug lines. And if you want to catch your own bait we carry Fitel line of cast nets as well. Then when you catch that really big one we have custom dip nets and Seaworx gaffs to get them on board.

We now have packets for the annual Delcambre Poker Run benefiting St. Jude's, scheduled for May 23rd. Packets are $25 cash or check and each packet is good for one poker hand. Each packet contains a lanyard with punch card, rules for the event, a wrist band, stop locations, and a drink cozy. Participants are asked to wear wrist band at all times. For non-participants who wish enter the pavilion for the drawings, there will be a $5 charge where an auction will take place along with live music.

So come out for a great day on the water benefiting a great cause.
