It’s with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our dear friend Buz Blair at age 73. Buz died at home with his children by his side on Sunday May 23, 2021 after a short illness.

Buz was a longtime employee, part owner, and resident sage at Gordon Hardware. His career here started in 1998 and continued until March of 2020. He was part owner with Trixy from 2006-2013. At that time, Trixy bought out his share, and Buz settled into partial retirement working 2 days a week. He was a kind and generous soul with a sharp sense of humor. He loved helping solve problems and making the world safe for hardware.

Buz was born and raised in Rockford IL and moved to Dekalb in the mid 1960’s. He made his home here for the rest of his life. Over the years he had many jobs mostly in the construction trades.

He is survived by his son Adam (Liz) Blair of Phoenix, AZ, Daughter Sara (Jordan) Blair McNally, grandchildren Adron, Lucy and Josie all of Knoxville, TN, and his longtime love Lynne Miguel of Madison, WI, brothers George Blair of Iowa, Lynn Blair of California, and many, many friends.

A memorial open house will be held later this summer and we will post those details and a full obituary once they have been finalized.
