The Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers - CSCE

The Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE) advances civil engineering in CT. In 1958, the Section had 523 members.

The CSCE of the present is the result of a merger of two organizations that occurred 30 years ago. The Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers was founded in 1884, while the Connecticut Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers was founded in 1919. In 1955 (the nearest comparable year for reliable numbers), the Society had 1,033 members. The two organizations met separately until they merged in 1981, by mutual vote of membership, to become the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers Section of American Society of Civil Engineers or CSCE.

Need a PDH at lunchtime? Join CSCE next month for a webinar at 12 p.m. Noon ET on Friday, November 13, on assessing the risk of structure damage over abandoned coal mines by Abdolreza (Reza) Osouli, Ph.D., P.E. the executive director of Marino Engineering Associates (MEA). Attendees will learn about the causes of mine subsidence and how mine stability relates to the resulting ground movements and case histories will be presented that illustrate different ground movement and damage scenarios.

Next month, join CSCE at our monthly meeting at Quinnipiac University on Wednesday, November 18, 2026. At this meeting, Megan Patton, P.E., CCCA, Project Manager at Apex Companies, and Elizabeth Curley, Project Engineer with Kleinfelder, will give a presentation titled, Beneath the Brick: Sustainable Infrastructure in Downtown Revitalization, and attendees may earn one (1) New York State PDH at this meeting as they learn how Kleinfelder led the evaluation, planning, and design of downtown sewer, stormwater, roadway, and streetscape infrastructure using a Complete Streets approach. This meeting is co-sponsored by the CT Chapter of the ASCE Environmental Water Resources Institute and the ASCE Student Chapter at Quinnipiac University.
