Last month, we had the honor of serving as a presenting sponsor for the Decatur Morgan Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 State of the City at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Decatur Riverfront through Pugh Wright McAnally.

The event brought together community leaders for an important look at the momentum shaping our region’s future. Mayor Kent Lawrence joined Wade Weaver for a conversation focused on economic investment, long-term planning, and the continued impact of growth across the city. Updates were also shared on public safety, youth services, parks and recreation, and the city’s financial outlook.

A meaningful part of the program included recognizing City Attorney Herman Marks for his 45 years of dedicated service to the City of Decatur.

We appreciate the Decatur Morgan Chamber of Commerce for hosting a strong and informative event, and we’re proud to support efforts that keep our community moving forward.

Two weeks ago, we had the honor of welcoming our Launch 2026 intern, Cassandra Ursua, to Pugh Wright McAnally as part of an incredible new internship initiative through Decatur City Schools. 🎓✨

Launch 2026 is designed to give students real-world experience, mentorship, and career exposure in fields they’re passionate about — helping prepare the next generation for success beyond the classroom. 🚀

We’re proud to have Cassandra learning alongside our team with mentorship from Nathan Tomerlin as she explores the world of civil engineering and community development. From infrastructure to site design, we’re excited to give students a firsthand look at the impact engineering has on the communities we serve every day.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this opportunity possible and for investing in the future workforce of our community. The future is bright, and we’re grateful to play a small part in helping shape it. 💙

Big improvements are on the way to one of Decatur’s busiest intersections. 🚧

At the Beltline Road and Sandlin Road intersection, our team at Pugh Wright McAnally provided the civil engineering and surveying to support a project designed to reduce congestion, improve safety, and address traffic stacking along the heavily traveled Beltline corridor.

We’re proud to play a role in creating smoother, safer commutes for the Decatur community—one intersection at a time.

A brand-new baseball facility is already complete and in use. Crews are actively working on paving and drainage improvements across campus to support continued growth.

Big things are growing in Decatur—and we’re honored to be part of it.

Pugh Wright McAnally is proud to serve on the civil engineering team for the expansion of the Cook Museum of Natural Science as it becomes the new North Alabama STEM Center.

This project will double classroom space, add a multi-purpose presentation area for the growing number of field trips, and expand access to hands-on science education for students across our region.

We are currently working on the 4th Avenue parking deck, a key piece of the expansion that will support increased access to the museum and surrounding developments, including a future hotel.

The expansion is expected to drive tourism, support local businesses, and create more opportunities for students across North Alabama to engage with science in a meaningful way.

We’re grateful to help build something that will impact our community for generations to come.
