Decatur Foundry Decatur Foundry, Inc. is a Gray and Ductile Iron foundry located in Decatur, Illinois Founded in 1936 with three pigs and $10, the J.L.

DFI specializes in semi-production castings with a no-bake air set sand molding process. Decatur Foundry provides solutions to our customers’ needs with parts requiring complex molding and coring, short-run or initial prototype casting, and pattern conversion or construction. As a testament to our flexibility, we are able to produce finished castings ranging from 50 to 15,000 pounds in a variety o

f grades for both gray and ductile types of cast iron. Working in partnership with both our suppliers and our customers, Decatur Foundry can provide a number of services to finished castings including, but not limited to pattern construction from a full service on-site pattern shop, quality testing, prime painting, heat treatment, solidification modeling, and machining. Johnson and Sons Foundry initially produced counterbalanced weights for window sashes. As these weights became obsolete, the company became Decatur Foundry, Inc. and moved into the production of annealing pots for heat treatment purposes. Expansion of our facility and capabilities in the 1970’s led Decatur Foundry into the gray and ductile iron casting of parts for the motor frame, valve, and pump industries. DFI has growth to become the industry leader in the no-bake air set sand process for gray and ductile iron castings. Decatur Foundry focuses on our partnered relationship with our customers. We pride ourselves on superior quality, industry leading on-time delivery and lead times, flexibility, and unsurpassed customer service. If you have questions regarding Decatur Foundry’s capabilities or are interested in having us be your next casting supplier, please contact Tom Young, Vice President of Sales at [email protected].
