QSM was approached by a multi-national distributor of industrial pumps and associated equipment serving the mining, chemical, power generation, and oil and gas industries, to finish machine a zirconium impeller. The customer had initially used another supplier who started the impeller but was unable to successfully complete the job and they were incurring significant cost due to the delay.

As a corrosion-resistant metal, Zirconium has novel applications in highly corrosive environments and presents significant challenges in machining due to its flammable nature. Recognizing the urgent need of the customer, QSM extended their operating hours and dedicated their engineering and production staff to complete the project.
