Another semester closer to space! 🚀

This semester, ISRP pushed high-powered rocketry further than ever before:

• 4 successful launches
• First overnight trip to an out-of-state launch site
• First successful de-spin flight
• New recovery system testing
• Continued avionics and airframe development
• Multiple successful HAM Mini V2 flights
• Development of advanced head-end ignition propulsion systems
• Major progress toward Plumbbob’s design

Thank you to every member, advisor, sponsor, and supporter who helped make this semester possible. We’re excited for what’s ahead next semester.

Twisted Launch 🌪️ 4.18.2026

Twisted, our newest de-spin flight vehicle, flew this Saturday, marking a major milestone for ISRP. Designed and built this semester, Twisted successfully resolved the challenges faced by its predecessor, WildChild. Its first flight was fully successful and set a new club altitude record, reaching just over 10,000 ft! This flight puts us another step closer to the 3-stage space shot sustainer flight!

Thank you to everyone who worked on making the Twisted flight a huge success! Thank you and for your funding and support!

On Wednesday, ISRP got invited to participate in the local elementary school March 2026 STEAM Night hosted by .

We used left over E-Week materials so that students could create their own paper airplanes! The donated materials from and allowed us to share our knowledge in fundamental aerodynamics to help the creative designs come to life ✈️

Thank you to the HSA, COA, and COE for making this night possible. We can’t wait to do it again!

We are proud to announce our sponsorship for 2026! Thank you for supporting ISRP’s mission to the Karman line and beyond 💫

With Blue Origin’s help we’ll be able to expand our technical capabilities, improve our systems, and best of all… launch more rockets!

Go Blue! 💙

Happy Valentine’s Day from ISRP to you!

Thank you to everyone who came to the table yesterday to buy roses, flight tags, and shirts. We can’t wait to table again… but next time with Action merch???!! 🤫🤫

We hope you accept our valentines! 😅🫶

Busy year… and we’re doing it all again (but better) in 2026‼️

Huge thanks to everyone who made 2025 an incredible year for ISRP. We’re ready to keep the momentum going with even more wild rocket launches, new merchandise drops, the debut of our scratch-built avionics operations website, and much more.

Stay tuned as we push more boundaries and keep building what’s to come for ISRP! 🚀

This last general meeting we were thrilled to welcome our guest speaker Jordan Guth, a Campus Manager from Lockheed Martin. 💫

We were able to learn valuable knowledge on the hiring process, careers, and benefits to working at Lockheed Martin, as well as the various positions available to fit a wide range of interests in business, engineering, physics, etc. 🌌

Thank you Jordan for coming to speak with us! We are looking forward to what lies ahead! 🚀

In October, ISRP launched two rockets at SRA. This included Pathfound, a flight vehicle used to test the maiden flight of HAM, our student-built flight computer, as well as Wild Child, our validation vehicle designed to test the de-spin system functionality. 🚀

Although Pathfound experienced an unexpected motor issue, all onboard systems performed as expected. During separation, the recovery system and parachute deployment operated successfully. After recovering the flight computer, all data from HAM was retrieved, marking an operationally successful maiden flight and validating the avionics systems.

Wild Child successfully deployed its de-spin mechanism as intended. However, an in-flight issue caused the drogue tube to fail, resulting in significant damage to the airframe and several internal components.

Both rockets were successfully recovered. While these flights did not go entirely as planned, they provided invaluable opportunities for reflection and learning. ISRP is now implementing new procedures to mitigate these issues and ensure the success of future missions. 🌌

Over the past two weeks, ISRP has held the first round of our L1 workshop sessions.

The first session went through sections of high powered rocketry with components needed and why by Wes, the physics aspect from Christian, and a crash course on OpenRocket from Anjay. We had over 40+ members spanning across multiple different clubs attend to learn about the fundamentals to high powered rocketry. 💫

The second session was hosted this last weekend at the Aerospace Lab. Attendees were split into two groups and rotated about half way through. The first team was led by Christian to design fins for their L1s and simulate their stability, apogee, and max velocity. Wes led the other team outside to prep body tubes and motor mounts with measurements taken from each person’s individual OpenRocket design. 🔨

The first round of L1 certifications are on track to launching in early November. Stay tuned for the various designs brewing! 🚀🎨

This past week ISRP has participated in two outreach events on campus. 🙌

On Thursday we got the opportunity to table at the COE Career Expo Prep. We were able to display Ares & Poseidon in front of the table with Wild Child seen on top. It was a fantastic time getting to talk to students, prospective members, other RSOs, and Dean Gregory himself! Thank you for putting this together! 🚀

Wrapping up the week, on Friday we were given the chance to display Ares & Poseidon at the first astronomy open house of the semester. It was great getting to talk to the community about what ISRP stands for and our mission on launching a collegiate sounding rocket! Thank you for hosting this fun night and for the views allowed us to observe! 🔭

We’re excited for what this semester has in store! Looking forward, be sure to come to the general meeting tomorrow at 6:30pm in COB 114! ☝️🤓
