You know that top set you come across that might seem like a bit too much but then the other part of you is saying go get that s**t? How do you approach the top set knowing that it’s going to be a dog fight and what you’re going to have to go through in order to complete the lift? I’m a little different than a lot and I lead with my heart and typically anything I’m going through at the time or even a goal I have in mind I use to mentally prepare for that moment. I don’t have it in me to drop the bar or say take it. So whatever it takes then so be it and let’s bang.
I didn’t think I’d see stars and then nearly all black and spit a chunk of my tooth out but when I include the last 4-5 months of my life into the equation believe that I didn’t care. I had a number in mind walking in and if I wasn’t getting it then it was because my body wasn’t ready and it just wasn’t there. Damn sure as hell not going to lay down for it or be satisfied with a near miss.
Pacing back in forth flipping through everything that has hurt or damaged me lately and everything I needed to do right in order to pull this off I asked myself “how bad do you want it Kyle” I got that feeling of adrenaline but nervous at the same time and that was my answer then I said show me then.
(Kinda weird I know) it wasn’t the cleanest or very pretty but I pulled that mother fu**er.
Light band at low hang with slack just before lockout of course that changed slightly with the weight getting heavier and the bar bending I was pulling both sumo and conventional up until I just knew conventional wasn’t there and felt rusty so I stuck with sumo for the remaining sets and left it all out there. Happy Valentine’s Day 😂
