Engineers Without Borders (EWB) - UC Davis is a non-profit organization established to help developing areas worldwide with their engineering needs, while involving and training internationally responsible engineering students. We currently have two programs. Beginning in 2016, the Peru project team took on a water distribution system in La Huaylla, Peru. This summer they sent an assessment team t
o map the water distribution system by taking GPS data and to determine the safety of drinking the water. This year, upon return, they have been focused on processing the data they collected, preparing a report for the community, and engineering solutions for the problems identified. They are planning a return trip in summer of 2017 to implement the first solutions in this multi-year partnership. Beginning in 2010, the Bolivia Project team has been enormously successful in implementing a water distribution system in the Andean Highlands of Bolivia. Their work has included designing the system, purchasing materials, and communicating with community members consistently. Their most recent trip to Quincucirca was in the summer of 2014, where they monitored the 3,000-meter pipeline and worked on educating community members on its maintenance. A trip is planned for the summer of 2017 to further monitor the project and decide what steps will next be taken.
