Does your facility have its Winter plan in place?

Protecting your forklifts from Winter's chill takes some prep. Make sure you cover these points when you're doing the checklist.

1. Grease your lifts! A dry joint can stick fast in the cold.
2. Tighten all wheel nuts. they may come loose when operating in colder weather.
3. Inspect all chains. Grease any that you're not 100% sure about.
4. Check tread on your tires. Winter conditions demand good healthy tread to prevent slipping/catching.
5. Inspect & flush the forklift's cooling system. Make sure to check all belts, all hoses, the water pump, the thermostat, and the radiator. It keeps the forklift from freezing up.
