A company is shaped by people. Some leave a legacy that extends far beyond their own time.

A large-format portrait in the entrance area of our administration building at our headquarters honors our company founder Walter Knoll (1928 – 2012).

His journey began with an apprenticeship as a machine fitter, followed by engineering studies. After gaining several years of professional experience, he made the deliberate decision to become self-employed and founded a one-man business in Bad Saulgau in 1970. ⚙️ That decision laid the foundation for a company that now operates worldwide while remaining firmly rooted in its origins.

Walter Knoll embodied courage, responsibility, and entrepreneurial vision. Alongside building the company, he was deeply committed to the region and its people, values that continue to define KNOLL today. 👥

The new portrait serves as a daily reminder of where it all began and of the principles and mindset that continue to guide our company.
