A nice piece of mid-century tooling here at the Werks. A Chandler Duplex Boring head. This one was missing a part when I found it on e-bay so I made the needed part and off we go! The bar is capable of single pointing a precision hole then bring your bar toy the correct depth and start the spindle. when you grab and hold the knurled ring at the top of the bar it will begin facing outward to the diameter you have it set to stop at. one of the cool things that has been replaced by CNC machines now, but back then this is what put us on the moon!!!!

Making some tooling for one of the neighbors …. Precision counts , this had to go from a .0015 press fit to a “slip fit no shake” it helps having all the measuring equipment and a decent spindle …. Follow along ……

UPDATE 6-13-2025: CSX has completed their work and Broad Boulevard at the tracks has been reopened.

The City of Cuyahoga Falls has been notified that CSX is scheduled to perform maintenance on the Broad Boulevard train tracks between Monday, June 2, and Friday, June 13, 2025. During this time, CSX will remove and replace those sections of the train track that cross Broad Boulevard. The road will be closed from the intersection of Tallmadge Rd / Newberry Street on the east side of the Railroad tracks, to the on/off ramps of SR8 / Broad Boulevard on the west side of the tracks. Detour signs will be placed in advance, throughout the area, to direct traffic. Emergency services have been notified.
