Proud of our Connor Sports team for giving back to the community and helping preserve a piece of Michigan's history!

Our team is volunteering their time and expertise to support the restoration of the historic Alberta Sawmill in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Originally designed by Henry Ford and opened in 1936, the sawmill represents an important part of the region's forestry heritage.

As a company with deep roots in the Upper Peninsula, we're honored to contribute to this restoration effort alongside Michigan Technological University and the Baraga County Historical Society.

A special thank you to our Connor Sports employees who are donating their time and skills to help preserve this landmark for future generations.

Michigan Tech and the Baraga County Historical Society are restoring the Alberta sawmill, the last remaining Henry Ford-designed sawmill, with new siding, a roof and floors to hopefully open the historic building to the public once again.

Detroit, we’re back! 🏀

Connor Sports is officially on the ground in the Motor City to begin early preparations for the 2027 NCAA NCAA Men’s Final Four!!!

We were honored to take witness a special presentation and panel discussion this morning with MSU Men’s Basketball royalty and prominent members of the NCAA that was hosted by the Detroit Economic Club .

It was an incredible opportunity to discuss what it takes to host a world-class sporting event and showcase how the championship floor comes to life.

As the official court provider, we can’t wait to build the stage where history will be made right here in Michigan. Let the countdown to 2027 begin!

Long before the lights come on, the crowds roar, and champions are crowned, every championship has a beginning.

In 2014, a tree fell in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, marking the beginning of a journey to college basketball’s biggest stage.

In 2026, we returned to the forest to begin that journey once again. ELLA GASPERICH gives all of us a firsthand look of the same event, from the eyes of a student.

From Michigan's Forests to the 2027 NCAA Men's Final Four!

The journey to the 2027 NCAA Men's Final Four in Detroit starts right here in Michigan's Upper Peninsula! Connor Sports was proud to be part of this year's Natural Resources Educational Day, where more than 500 students explored sustainable forestry, responsible manufacturing, and the craftsmanship behind the hardwood basketball courts used on college basketball's biggest stage.

Students had the unique opportunity to witness the beginning of that journey, including the harvesting of Michigan hardwood that will become part of the official 2027 NCAA Men's Final Four court.

More than 500 students recently experienced that journey firsthand during Natural Resources Educational Day, learning how sustainable forestry, Michigan manufacturing and craftsmanship come together to create a court for one of college basketball’s biggest stages.

From the forest to the NCAA Men's Final Four.

Connor Sports recently welcomed more than 500 students from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for a Natural Resources Educational Day focused on responsible forestry, sustainability, and the process behind one of the biggest stages in college basketball.

Students had the opportunity to learn directly from Connor Sports and local industry partners about sustainable timber selection, forestry practices, wildlife conservation, lumber production, and how locally sourced Michigan hardwood will become the Official Court of the 2027 NCAA Men's Final Four in Detroit, Michigan.

The day provided students with a firsthand look at the entire journey from forest to floor and the people, resources, and craftsmanship behind every Connor Sports hardwood court.

We are proud to manufacture our hardwood sports floors in Michigan and even prouder to work alongside the communities, schools, forestry professionals, and industry partners who make that possible.

Built for the next chapter of Portland Fire WNBA!

Proud to support Michigan Technological University and the historic Alberta, Michigan mill site, originally built by The Henry Ford as a sawmill and community in the 1930s.

Connor Sports is supplying new hardwood flooring and subfloor materials to help replace worn and deteriorated areas within the mill museum. We’re glad to play a small part in helping preserve this unique piece of Michigan history for future generations.

Henry Ford built a whole town in the Baraga County woods, and then barely used it. 🌲

Alberta opened in 1936 as one of Ford's model villages, a tidy little settlement of matching white houses around a small, spotless sawmill on US-41. Ford had this idea that industry and small-town life could fit together, that a mill did not have to mean a grim company town. So he built the neat version, houses for the workers, a school, a pond, all of it planned. 🏡

The mill was never a big money-maker. It was more of a showpiece, a demonstration of how you could cut timber carefully and give people a decent place to live doing it. The sawmill ran into the 1950s. ⚙️

Ford gave the whole thing to Michigan Tech, and today Alberta is the university's forestry center, still standing, still white, still tucked in the pines exactly where he put it. One of the strangest and gentlest things a car man ever built up north.
