A few pictures to show how the trucks have changed. In order 1) Maytag was the first truck truck I ever raced. Originally built by Jerry Hollis in 1987 the truck had tons of history. Dad was driving Gizmo at the time. 2) We teamed up with Ronald in 2015 and haven’t checked up since. This is the original Rawhyde built by Walt Ronald and . 3) Rawhyde was torn down to the frame rails and redone with an all new cage and suspension. 4) the first Poor Boys Toy to honor the original truck Dad and Walt ran in the 80s. This truck really changed the game for us. 5) This was the second Poor Boys Toy it was the first truck we ever ran that had a trailing arm rear suspension. 6) The second Rawhyde was built to make our racing behind the scenes easier. It shared most everything with the second PBT to make us not need nearly as many spares on race day. 7&8) The first IFS truck we ever attempted to build. At this time all of our old trucks where still out there competing and we wanted to push the envelope to get even faster. 9) The Rawhyde we currently race. Also the first ifs version of the Rawhyde and a retired Pro4 chassis. 10) The current PBT that we recently did a build thread on that was completed last year alongside the new Byepolar truck.

What a great way to start the year. We had some struggles but where able to make it through the day with first and second in super and open and got to race each other in the super run off. It’s always a blast to race dad because he’ll never quit teaching me new tricks. The Poor Boys Toy carried me to a new track record of 44.12. Marc won super street and had one of the best races of the day in his run off in the Dixieland Delight. I know the racing will only get better as the year goes on and I’ll be posting some GoPro videos later on as I figure out how to work it.

And finally just a few pics everyone has already seen of the finished product. Again I can’t thank everyone enough for all the help from family and friends to all the companies that keep making the parts to put these things together. This whole build lasted about 5 months from start to finish. Racing season is right around the corner so we’ll have a ton more updates and if anyone wants to see more build pics I’ll gather some more up of some of our older builds. &rspeedshop

Happy Birthday to both of our fearless leaders today. They have been taught us all so much about racing and we’re glad they are still leading the way for us.

Last few random shots before came and worked his magic on the wrap. This was all in the week leading up to the July race so everything was a huge time crunch. Trying to do the skid plates after powder coating was very challenging to get all the holes just right. I know there has to be a better way but we haven’t found that way yet.

Last bits of aluminum work before we could hang the body for the final time. Poster paper was a major asset for this part of the build. All of the front panels are easily removable for maintenance and it helps shield the engine and electronics from the mud and water.
