We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to diagnose and repair small engine outdoor power equipment. We are a servicing dealer for both Stihl and Husqvarna outdoor power equipment and offer service on other major brands as well. You will be responsible for ensuring timely and reliable repairs. The ideal candidate will be self motivated but also a team player. You will be primarily working on repair and maintenance but may also need to offer sales advice to customers looking to purchase new equipment. S&T Hardware is a locally owned store that has been serving the community since 1971.
Responsibilities:
Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
Provide customers with accurate quotes/estimates
Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems
Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures
Maintain accurate inventory of parts and order as needed
Offer suggestions to customers looking to replace units that cannot be repaired
Assembly and Prep of newly sold units
Complete accurate invoices
Provide customers with propers operating procedures if necessary
Skills:
Proven experience as Mechanic on both 2 and 4 Cycle Engines
Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components
Knowledge of lawn and garden equipment including, chainsaws, trimmers,generators, push and riding mowers, snow throwers and other gasoline small engines.
Aptitude in using various hand tools
Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction
A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
Very good communication skills
Strong problem solving skills
A problem-solving attitude
Customer service oriented
Valid certification is preferred
Basic computer skills, parts lookup and POS system
Strong time management and organization skills
