Well, apparently Wade Hardware is now offering wildlife encounters.
Caught something moving out of the corner of my eye and thought, “There is NO way that’s a lizard in here.” So naturally, I ignored it… until I saw it AGAIN a little while later.
This time I sprang into highly trained hardware-store-lizard-rescue mode: clear bucket over the top, carefully slid a piece of cardboard underneath, and voilà one tiny reptile safely contained.
My coworker gave him a walk one block east to 1st Street and released him back into the wild, where he can continue doing whatever suspicious little lizard business brought him into the hardware store in the first place.
We’ve decided to call him Wade.
Best guess is he’s either a Common Fence Lizard or a juvenile Western Crocodile Lizard. Either way, he came in, browsed for a bit, and left without buying a single thing, the nerve!!

Bathroom mostly done. Because apparently once everyone else finishes their part, that’s when my part begins.
I really didn’t want to lose the original baseboards, but they were looking every bit as tired as I felt. So I gave them some love with Howard Restor-A-Finish and WOW they came back beautifully without losing all that old-house character.
New floor ✔
Original baseboards saved ✔
Project finally finished-ish ✔
My sanity… questionable. ?
I’m so happy with how it turned out. Sometimes the old stuff just needs a little help, not a trip to the dumpster. ❤️

Apparently the Gorilla Dump Cart is so handy, it may not survive your next family BBQ
I brought mine along to haul stuff around, and my sister thought it was so cool that she promptly claimed it for herself and said: “You’re not getting this back.”
So… I guess I need another one.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been one year since we opened our doors as Wade Hardware! We couldn’t have made it through our first year without the incredible support of our customers, neighbors, friends, and community.
