Wilson Machine & Welding, Inc., a large General and CNC Machining, Gear Cutting and Steel Fabrication Job Shop located in Cordova, Alabama, needs a highly qualified and experienced AutoCAD/Inventor Draftsman with a minimum of 3 years of heavy job shop experience.
We have been growing steadily since 1972 and are well established with strong, long-term customer relationships throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
We have an immediate need for an experienced AutoCAD/AutoCAD Inventor Draftsman.
Job Duties for AutoCAD Draftsman:
• Will interpret customer drawings and sketches and, using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor software make shop drawings in both 2D and 3D of mechanical components such as shafts, gears, splines, assemblies, etc. for fabrication or machining.
• Will utilize ProNest nesting software to create appropriate plate burning nests.
• Will measure parts and generate as-built drawings for those parts that don’t have drawings.
• Will take field measurements of parts and equipment, make free-hand sketches as well as gather all drawings or other information necessary to complete the job.
• Will interact with customers to ascertain all information necessary to create drawings and Scope of Work.
• Will make material take-off from customer drawings and purchase material.
• Will work with other employees to maintain reasonable inventory of materials used for burning and fabrication.
• Will interpret and convert Metric drawings to English.
• Will identify and correct any discrepancies on drawings, sketches or job Scope of Work.
Skill, Education, Experience & Physical Requirements:
Must Have Skills:
• Familiarity with Parametric Solid Modeling software such as Inventor, Solid Works or other similar software.
• Knowledge of, and experience with, plate nesting software such as ProNest.
• Good math knowledge including trigonometry.
• Good knowledge of mechanical components such as shafts, gears, splines, assemblies for machining, and weldments for fabrication.
• Familiarity with the metric system.
• Familiarity with precision mechanical dimensioning and tolerances.
• Familiarity with MS Office.
Desired Skills:
• 3 years of experience in a job shop using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor or Solid Works in a machine shop, gear cutting or fabrication environment.
• Ability to measure parts and equipment and make free-hand sketches.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
