An exterior stone stairwell under our primary kitchen windows at Elway Hall leads to the scullery below. Originally reimagined as our catering kitchen, Will finds this lower cooking area with its restaurant caliber layout more conducive to his meal prep process. Fortunately there’s an interior iron and wood staircase connecting the two kitchens, but this outside entrance comes in handy for unloading provisions and the occasional guest chefs we bring in for special occasions. A verdant herb garden girded by dense yews and boxwoods to the left of the iron railing is convenient to both kitchens…and is a favorite hideaway for Miss Dinah. Swipe left to see her traveling the slate step stones outside the little garden on today’s post work walk, looking over her shoulder to confirm that I’m following before finding a comfy spot in the lush bed of vinca to bask in the afternoon sun…if only for a moment. And another work day comes to a sleepy close. — view on Instagram https://instagr.am/p/C8DgRN2MSI2/
