DRAG RACING IN THE SOUTH STARTS AS EARLY AS JANUARY. $50,000+ BIG BUCK NATIONALS FEB. 8-11 IN LOUISIANA

Belle Rose, LA — It’s wild to think that Drag Racing in the South starts as early as January while some are still snowed in. That’s one advantage of living in the South. You have the opportunity to practically race year around.

The Southern Big Buck Nationals invades No Problem Raceway, February 8-11, paying $5,000 on Friday and $20,000 to win both Saturday and Sunday. Between the main event races, the warm-up race, and the additional shootouts, the promotions team will be paying out over $50,000 in prize money to the racers.

DragCoverage attended the US Street Nationals in Bradenton, FL in January and it’s unreal that we get to experience Big Buck Bracket Racing this early on in the season.

DragCoverage will be making the trip to No Problem Raceway and are excited to not only see some good drag racing, but all the track improvements that the track has implemented over the off-season.

This tune and graph are from a 1999 Honda Civic D16Y8 motor. Stock 102whp motor was rebuilt by Cruz.n.customs. It came to him with a bent rod so he did what he does and now it is a turbo build. Cruz called me up for a base map build and tuning for this rebuilt engine. After an hour long call and a few text with a build sheet and profiles for the components I built a base map. We got together and scheduled a day for me to come over, I put the map in and I got to tuning. After 3 pulls I had it dialed in. The civic now has 170whp and 259ft.lb torque at 6.5lbs boost. There are plans in the near future to upgrade the boost controller so I can safely increase the boost. I will also be porting the head. Currently there are a few Hp spikes on the graph (not shown due to smoothing) exceeding 200whp. Stay tuned for the next run with the car we are shooting for a reliable 300whp.

We will be set up from 1-3pm on Sunday at the spectator entrance for a free coat drive! We have over 50 free jackets and hoodies to get you and your kids prepared for the expected freezing temps early next week! Please only take one item per person and only if you truly need it! We want everyone to be able to stay warm!

If you have jackets to donate please drop off between noon and 1pm. Jackets do not need to be new but they need to be clean. We will not pass out jackets before 1pm to ensure everyone gets a fair chance. If all items are claimed before 3pm we will close down.
