HAPPY HORSEPOWER HUMPDAY!!

For all the NA Big Block Chevy fans. This engine is a short deck 9.800, it will fit where any typical BBC fits! This is one from a previous post that has been updated and pushed about as far as we could given the parts we are working with. I’m very pleased as is the customer with the outcome after a lot of hard work and waiting on parts to be customized to BRE specs from some of our suppliers.

"The car was finished being built in October of 2020. The engine a 408 LS was built by Bobby Bammann from Bammann Racing Engines. The Powerglide was built by Steve Gorman from Precision transmission. I have taken the car on 5 drag and drive events, a bunch of track rentals, the yellow bullet nationals a bunch of test and tunes and over 11,000 street miles in the last 4 years. The engine and transmission have not been refreshed since day one. The only thing we needed to do was change head gaskets one time because we over boosted it. The transmission has been bullet proof since day one and it lasted much longer then anyone expected without a refresh. I just want to thank these two gentleman because they built s**t to last. The car was wired by Rich Concato and it has been performing as it should since day one and his customer service is on point. Thank you Rich! And last but certainly not least is the man that bails me out every time I’m in a pinch and who built the majority of the car and the reason it is where it is today along with the rest of the guys is Bob Carroll from Carrolls rod and race craft. The man is artist when it comes to building race cars. He’s the car worlds version of Van Gogh!!"

Manifold Monday here at BRE! Some manifold prep, clean up, fixing/changing some stuff using the K.I.S.S. concept! (Keep It Simple Stupid)

The new manifold is for a Big Block Chevy N/A Wilson Manifolds with a Book Racing Ent. carb. Notice the water lines in the proper orientation, we added the holes in the rear to run the lines and also added a port for temp gauge in the front.

The SBC manifold is getting a little makeover and some servicing. Notice in the pics where gaskets, shear plates and carbs were misaligned, ATTENTION TO DETAIL is a must!

So……. when Patience and lack of a part exactly the way you want it to be isn’t readily available, you make a fixture/tool to modify an existing part to make it the way you want it! These particular cam bearings are for a Big Block Chevy and now I can “clock” them in the position I want.

Did Santa not bring you what you wanted for Christmas?? Maybe he didn’t get your wish list or maaaaybe you were on the naughty list! Either way, we can help you out.

We're overstocked on a few cores so if you’re in the market for an LS "stock block" based engine, we're confident we can accommodate your needs. Here are four examples of what's available.

1. LC9 5.3 machine-ready block ready for your application. BRE has a few boosted 5.3’s running around making ~1100whp but can be built to handle up to 1500hp

2. LS2 6.0 block that’s ready to be machined depending on the application (NA/boosted/N20)

3. LS3 6.2 block also ready for machining (NA/boosted/N20)

4. LC9 Darton dry-sleeved block to accommodate 388 to 434ci+. This killer also has roller cam bearings and a BRE-designed proprietary oiling system to help keep a big powerful engine happy! Btw, this block identifies as a 5.3!

We also have 8 different sets of heads in stock to complement your build depending on power level goals.

These engines are all prepped for the systematic processes we perform to our engines so timeframe is contingent on the scope of the build. The simple, more streeter builds could easily be done by spring time.

Complete LS 404” Cruiser engine. This engine came out of a D.P.W. truck with 90k on it and it must have idled for what might have been an equivalent to another 250k! Pictures show how dirty/clogged up the ports were! Block had bad scaling on the outside also, looks BRAND NEW now!

I will be making a trip to NJ from Concord, NC at the end of this week, I’ll be there for most of the weekend. I will have a full truck load of engines going to NJ. I know it’s a little last minute, but I will pick up your engine on my way back if this helps anyone!!!

Shoutout to Big Mike doing the MidWest Drag and Drive event. The engine is a turbo 408” LS, a pretty basic build built for durability and longevity! Engine was built in early 2019 and to my knowledge has only had a set of head gaskets changed which was from an overheating issue from a water pump failure during an event. Mike has done quite a few of these events and has had to persevere through some of the toughest situations and conditions, I guess you might say he’s gluten for punishment!

Fix er’ up Friday!
This next project is an LS 402”. This LQ4 6.0 block came out of a DPW truck with 90k on it. It took .006 to correct the deck surface front to back and side to side and has an average of 16-17 Ra finish, thanks to the CBN cutter.
