Aries Engineering, LLC announced that Ian Clarke recently passed the Professional Engineer exam and is now a licensed environmental engineer in New Hampshire. Ian graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Ian has been a project manager at Aries since 2016 with a focus on petroleum and hazardous waste site investigation and remediation, regulatory compliance and geographic information system (GIS) mapping and database management.

Aries completed our 24th year of water quality sampling in the Merrimack River as a part of the Upper Merrimack Monitoring Program (UMMP). We're proud to support the UMMP in their mission to monitor water quality and provide education and public awareness.

On July 12, 2019, Governor Chris Sununu signed a bill reducing the state drinking water standard, or maximum contaminant level (MCL) for arsenic from 10 to 5 parts per billion, which is half of the federal default standard. According to New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) officials, the new standard will apply to public water systems and environmental monitoring sites. Private water supplies are not regulated in New Hampshire.

Arsenic is naturally occurring, is commonly found in New Hampshire’s groundwater, and has been linked to an increased prevalence of bladder and other cancers as well as developmental effects in children. According to NHDES officials, new rules are required for the new, reduced arsenic drinking water standard, which are anticipated to become effective in July 2021.

The 14th annual Pedaling for Payson bike ride and fundraiser is scheduled for September 14, 2019 at Elm Brook State Park in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. The Pedaling for Payson bike ride and fundraiser supports the nurse navigator program at Concord Hospital Payson Center for Cancer Care. Aries donated GIS services to prepare the course maps for the 77-mile, 57-mile, 30-mile, and 16-mile races. Join us in supporting those battling cancer by registering or donating.
