Oh for the love! NHRA. You need to just quit doing stupid s**t.... 15 years ago we planned for the switch to EFI and converted, built and tested intakes with two 4 barrel TB's only to be told that Holley will be supplying the forward facing mono blade unit and "spec" HP ECU. Now we are going back to hood scoops and top mount throttle bodies? Oh and in the interest of parity and cost savings......
But let me guess. It will be 8 injectors in the runners only and a spec throttle body that is supplied by a key sponsor.
News flash! Pro Stock is expensive. They like technology and so do the teams that race them. Give them a rule package that goes hand in hand with the class.

A decade after transitioning from two carburetors and hood scoops to electronic fuel injection (EFI), NHRA officials announced today that hood scoops will return to Pro Stock bodies beginning in the 2027 season, along with removing the single forward-facing throttle body and replacing it with two top-mounted 4-barrel style throttle bodies.

As many of you know this photo is going around like wild fire. It’s crazy to see this carnage. But in honesty it is not just stupid but flat out dangerous.

Let’s dive into it. First off it was a stock block. In all fairness in may have been filled or 1/2” studs but as far as the block and caps, stock. Next is the captain obvious moment of aluminum rods. So I’m guessing they were definitely wanting to make all the jam with all the boost. Well I would say they succeeded. It would be fair to say the spent good money on rods and pistons. So why would I say it’s stupid? Well it’s a crazy amount of money and time to build this caliber of engine. I don’t understand this logic. All these nice parts a they were a aftermarket block away from reliability.
Now for the dangerous part. Where do you think all of those parts went when they left the chat? Ya, everywhere you don’t want them. It’s a miracle he didn’t do the Kendal Slide and end up in the rhubarb. Then there’s the cleanup. The take crew had to not only pick up this mess but also prep that lane back to racing standards. And that happened in about ten minutes right? Ya I don’t think so. It delayed the entire event.
So how can we do better? Well don’t over sell your engines resume. By the right parts the first time and it will save you and the ones you race with time and money in the long run.

$422.50 650” lift double springs, steel retainers, spring locators, premium viton valve stem seals and new valve locks
$585.00 Propack valve and spring kit. Includes, Stainless 2.165” intake valves, stainless 1.600” exhaust valves, .700” lift PAC double valve springs, steel retainers, spring locators, premium viton valve stem seals and new valve locks.

We get several calls a day as to lead times for our CNC ported cylinder heads. Currently we are at 2-3 weeks for our LS and LT heads. We have several options for valves and valve spring set ups depending on your needs.
We also sleeve LS, Coyote, and Honda aluminum blocks. Lead times are approximately 2-3 weeks as well.

So this is one of a set of 8 604 crate rods. Directly out of the box. As you can see the rod has a huge shadow on the top side. The suppler didn’t even QC that finished part. Upon further inspection of the other rods, 4 more were out of round and two had .001” taper. This is the world of crate racing. You are forced to buy an extremely expensive engine that you will have to have “blueprinted” before you ever put it on track. You can do it yourself, you can’t use better/more reliable parts. There is no point fund for your loyalty. Just take it or leave it. It’s crazy to think that grace roots circle track racing has come to this. The racers have slowed this to happen. You have all the keys to the castle. You are the show. They come to see you, not the promoter. You’re being forced to spend crazy money on s**t engines that don’t belong in a delivery truck. But yet you still do it. I would really love to know why. A logical explanation of why.

Private Equity has absolutely ruined our industry. Nothing screams "I hate my job" more than the sales guy that can't wait to just bang away at his computer with the part number you provide. Have a question, "I'm not your guy"......

Banks County has recommended approval for the zoning of the track — 5–0 vote 🙌

That means the first real steps toward bringing Atlanta Dragway back have officially begun.

This is huge for racers, fans, families, and the entire motorsports community. Momentum is building, and we’re excited to watch this vision start turning into reality. IHRA
