When piping systems go from empty → full, or need to be drained or purged, gas-liquid interfaces (i.e. bubbles) will often form. These can cause unpredictable transient pressures and mechanical stresses if not accounted for. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Impulse’s new Pipe Filling & Draining feature. It allows engineers to explicitly simulate how bubbles behave as they move through a network.

- Track gas-liquid interfaces in startup, shutdown, or purging events
- Model bubble expansion/compression & wave propagation using a hybrid approach of MOC + compressible gas modeling
- Predict transient forces, surge effects, and better inform system/valve/pump design decisions

For engineers focused on system reliability and safety, this is a big step forward. Simulating just steady-state or “fully liquid” flow often leaves out these real-world dynamics.

Join us for a focused session on the latest enhancements to Impulse and xStream, designed to streamline model setup, improve diagnostic insights, and give you more control over your transient analyses. In this webinar, we’ll walk through practical applications of new features that reduce manual effort, enhance accuracy, and integrate key analysis steps directly into the software to help engineers work faster without sacrificing precision.

Register at: https://hubs.ly/Q03HrtsK0

Key takeaways:
1. How to use Smart Sectioning Modes to automatically balance run time and accuracy in transient models.
2. Generating Force Amplitude vs Frequency graphs in-software for faster resonance and pulsation evaluations.
3. Leveraging event-based run termination to stop simulations on specific conditions or alerts.
4. Improved PCF importing workflows for faster, cleaner data integration.
5. Using new Natural Frequency Evaluation and Steady State Pulsation modes for a clearer, more flexible Pulsation Frequency Analysis (PFA) workflow.

This session is tailored for mechanical engineers who want actionable tips for improving efficiency and confidence in their transient system modeling.

New Feature Alert! One of the BEST new features released is the Cross-App Heat Exchanger Thermal Link between Fathom 14 and Arrow 11. Model liquid-gas heat exchangers with integrated Fathom and Arrow runs.

No more manual iteration loops. This powerful new feature allows Fathom and Arrow to work in tandem—solving for thermal balance in liquid-gas heat exchangers automatically. Run both models simultaneously and reach convergence without tedious back-and-forth adjustments. The result? A more accurate, efficient workflow that saves time and minimizes complexity when modeling mixed-fluid systems.
