❄️ Extreme Weather Pool Tip:

Ensure the pool has plenty of water. Even with an auto-fill system, you might still need to add extra water manually. Evaporation doesn’t just happen in summer. Cold, windy weather can pull water just as fast.

• Top your water off today
• Keep an extra hose in the garage
(If outside faucets are frozen, you can hook a hose to a washing machine spigot or use a sink adapter)

As we prepare for extreme temperatures this weekend, we want to share a few reminders:

Freeze Guard Check

The most important step is confirming your freeze guard is working properly. Your equipment should automatically turn on when temperatures drop below 32°. If it doesn’t, turn the equipment on manually and give us a call.

The function of the freeze guard is to keep the water circulating, preventing frozen pipes and damage to equipment.

A common misconception:

Pool heaters do not automatically turn on during freezing weather. Water circulation is the only thing needed to prevent damage from frozen pipes.

General Cold Weather Tips

- Ensure your pool has plenty of water. Even with an auto-fill, you may need to add more.
- Make sure your main pump is running. Note: Cleaner booster pumps typically do not turn on with the freeze guard; they still receive a small amount of water flow when the main pump is running.
- Keep skimmer baskets emptied for maximum circulation.
- Do not attempt to backwash during freezing conditions.
- Be cautious around slippery decks, and keep pets away from icy areas.

Tips for Extreme Winter Weather

(These are only needed if temperatures drop extremely low or stay below freezing for extended periods.)

Cover exposed plumbing with moving blankets or insulated blankets, and then a tarp.
Make sure the covering does not touch the motor.

**Do NOT cover a running pool heater or any motors**

Keep a spare hose in the garage in case outdoor hoses freeze—this ensures you can still top off water levels to prevent equipment from running dry.

Winterizing Your Equipment:

Christmas Movie Fun fact:

Nearly 80 years later and the Beverly Hills High swim gym is still iconic. This unique gym floor was designed and constructed in 1939 and is still in full use today! Yep, this is the pool from It’s a Wonderful Life where George and Mary took that legendary plunge in 1946. Some holiday classics never get old!
