Texas A&M Energy Club "Powering Your Future" Discussion: A more informal exercise where students can get together to discuss current issues and challenges facing the energy industry.

Why: The Texas A&M Energy Club is being started with an aim to engage students from various disciplines (engineering, business and public policy), who are interested in energy related issues to collaborate on activities that help them learn about the broader energy picture. Who: Both graduate and undergraduate students who want to both learn as well as contribute in an interdisciplinary manner out

side their regular courses and research. What: The Energy Club will be a student run organization that aims to involve the Texas A&M student community through various activities:
1. Energy 101 series: Lectures conducted by students which will cover the basics in technology, business and public policy of selected energy related topics.
2. Lecture series: Invited faulty/industry experts will give a talk about their research/domain of expertise and its significance to energy.
3. The aim is to have interactive sessions to tap into the knowledge that students from different disciplines have in order to gain information about the energy industry.
4. Tour/Site Visit: A field trip to an industry or energy conference.
5. Alumni/Industry Outreach:
a. Networking with Texas A&M Alumni who are working in the energy industry and who can provide guidance to students to better prepare themselves for a career in energy. b. Outreach to Industry in order to facilitate internship and employment opportunities for students
6. Energy Happy Hour: A social event to get to know each other over beer. Benefits: Some of the potential benefits of becoming a member of the Texas A&M Energy Club:
1. Broaden base of knowledge
2. Information about energy related courses in other departments
3. Networking for mentorship and guidance
4. Possibility of internship and employment opportunities
