Big infrastructure projects may happen behind the scenes β€” but their impact can shape communities for generations.

The proposed Shokan Wastewater Management Project aims to help protect water quality in the Ashokan Reservoir watershed while supporting long-term community resilience in the Town of Olive.

Project highlights include:
βœ” Capacity for 500+ potential hookups
βœ” Approximately 70,000+ feet of gravity sewer infrastructure
βœ” New wastewater treatment facilities designed to support both Shokan and Boiceville
βœ” Protection of local waterways and groundwater resources
βœ” Long-term infrastructure investment in the Catskills region

Projects like this help address aging septic challenges, difficult site conditions, flooding concerns, and future environmental protection needs throughout watershed communities.

The Community Wastewater Management Program is administered by the Catskill Watershed Corporation and funded by New York City.
