I’ve decided to change the name from “Berry Racing Development” to “Davis Racing Equipment”.

My Grandpa started a company from the ground up. He helped people, it didn’t matter how much you had. If you wanted to go racing, he’d do whatever he could to help get you pointed in the right direction.

I want to do whatever it takes to keep my Grandpas legacy alive.

We already have teams lined up to get their cars gone through and setup for the 2024 season. I think it would make my Grandpa smile to see me hand them some Davis Racing Equipment stickers to run on their car for the year.

This one’s for you Grandpa, we miss you! #1

Championship Night

First off Congratulations to Scott Quaal on his win last Friday night and also to Davis McManus on another track championship.

Our driver Luke Warhurst and Tessa had a rough start to the day.

They ended the day on a positive note though. Started 13th and Finished 7th.

Looking forward to seeing what Luke can do in his final race of the season this Saturday at Birch Run Speedway!

Huge shoutout to Tiffany Lechota and Sarah Quaal. The Racing for Miracles race was one of the most professional, well put together races we’ve been a part of. Congratulations on a successful weekend! We hope you guys were able to take a second to enjoy it.

Another Congratulations goes out to our Chassis and Shock Builder Derrick Griffin! Derrick, Taylor and DG Performance are first class. Congrats on your win!

Trevor ended up 4th fastest in qualifying, after the redraw we would start 10th. After some good battles with Kyle Hayden and David McManus we would find ourselves running 2nd. Tried to run down Derrick but with 20 to go we had used our stuff up and couldn’t get there. We are extremely close to picking up one of these crown jewel modified races!

Unfortunately for Luke his motor expired on Friday. We were unable to get it changed in time for him to race on Saturday.

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported our team and this great race! We appreciate it!

BRD Weekend Update:

For the first race of the year both BRD modified's were in action with the Mid-West Modifieds Tour at Berlin Raceway . With only 30 minutes for practice and rain in the forecast the BRD team had their work cut out for them.

Thankfully both cars were very quick straight off the trailer. Luke Warhurst Racing could not have impressed us anymore than he did with his ability to quickly adapt to what many consider to be the most difficult track in Michigan, despite being on 75+ lap tires.

Luke was the second car on track for qualifying and laid down a fast lap of 17.347. Luke would remain on the top of the leader bord until teammate Trevor Berry made his qualifying run.

On Trevor's second lap up to speed he became the fastest modified to ever circle Berlin Raceway with a New Track Record of 16.935 and was the first ever driver to qualify under 17 seconds.

After all 26 cars had qualified Trevor and his Extreme Indoor Kart Racing - Clio, MI / O'Connor Trucking modified were p1, while Luke and his Four Star Transportation were a very impressive 8th quick. The top nine drivers would re-draw for their starting position putting Trevor in 3rd and Luke in 7th for the 50 lap feature.

Unfortunately that is where Luke's luck would run out and he would suffer a flat right front tire on the second circuit of the contest. The team was able to replace the tire and he would re-start in the 25th position on lap 2.

Lap 11 would see Trevor us a lapped car for a pick to take the lead. Sadly just one lap later after working his way up to the 20th position Luke would get caught up trying to pass two slower cars and broke a bolt in the right front suspension. ending his race. Luke was scored in the 22nd position officially.

The re-start on lap 12 would see Trevor jump out to a five car lead that he would never relinquish. Despite there being multiple late race cautions he would win his third career MidWest Modifieds Tour feature.

We are getting an early start on Luke Warhurst Racing, Luke Warhurst’s Modified for 2023! Luke had a strong end to 2022 and we look forward to helping him reach his goals in 2023!

We would like to welcome Luke Warhurst to the BRD stable. We are looking forward to helping Luke achieve some of his goals as he finishes his 2022 season! The real work will come this off-season as we prepare the #12 for 2023.
