Construction Safety Week is an important reminder that safe jobsites depend on preparation, awareness, and accountability every day — especially when working with rental equipment.

Here are three common rental-related safety issues crews should never overlook:

⚠️ Overhead power line awareness
Maintaining proper clearance around overhead electrical lines is critical when operating lifts, booms, dump trucks, and other heavy equipment.

🔍 Skipping daily inspections
Because equipment is rented, operators sometimes assume it has already been fully checked. Daily inspections remain essential and can identify issues such as worn hoses, leaks, damaged guards, tire concerns, or inoperative alarms and emergency stops before they become larger problems.

🎮 Operating unfamiliar equipment without proper orientation
Controls, safety systems, and operating procedures can vary significantly between manufacturers and models. Even experienced operators should receive an orientation on the specific machine being used.

Meet Craig Svandrlik, our Southwest Regional Sales Manager, who joined Rock Rental in January 2018!
